Project Details

Seabet

Burullus Combined Cycle Power Plant is one of the world's largest gas-fired seabet appcombined cycle power plants with a capacity of 4,800 MW.

The mega project consisted of design, engineering, fabrication, delivery of materials and equipment, erection, testing, commissioning, startup, and putting into service the Burullus and New Capital seabet appcombined cycle power plants at ISO Condition.

Scope of Orascom Construction (OC) included carrying out all engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work for the entire project jointly with OEM. Testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning were also included in the scope of OC jointly with OEM who supplied the Gas Turbines, HRSG and Steam Turbines.

In a consortium with Siemens, Orascom Construction completed two out of three mega power plants in Egypt with a total power generation capacity of 9,600 MW, Burullus and New Capital seabet appcombined cycle power plants.

Burullus Combined Cycle SeabetPower Plant was completed in a record time, setting a new benchmark for the execution of fast-track power generation project, beside achieving a milestone of 50 million man-hours without LTI. The execution schedule was extremely challenging at Burullus Power Plant caused by the late start and the most challenging site conditions. In addition, the plant’s remote site required additional complex geotechnical engineering with significantly greater soil improvement and piling work than expected, in addition to immense marine and water intake structures in the open sea.
